Portia Nyangani has been volunteering as the Program Director of AMEND since late 2024. A seasoned professional in the mining industry, she has led Keep Mining Syndicate, her own small-scale gold mining company, since 2003. Over the years, she has emerged as a strong advocate for responsible mining and environmental conservation.
As a woman in a male-dominated field, Nyangani intimately understands the challenges women face—being overlooked, economically marginalized, and excluded from opportunities. These experiences have fueled her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality, and financial literacy within the mining community.
In her role at AMEND, she serves as the team coordinator, overseeing program execution, budget management, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. Her leadership and advocacy continue to foster ethical mining practices while championing the inclusion and advancement of women in the industry.
